Schools are being asked to make decisions about AI faster than institutions are built to make decisions about anything. That gap is where we work. AIDEN helps educators, and the people who lead them, develop judgment about AI: discernment about what a tool is actually doing, taste about what good work looks like now, and the confidence to decide that a particular task is better done without it. The goal definitely is not more AI in classrooms. It's better decisions about it, made by teachers and leaders, on their terms. Then we build what those decisions call for. Most of what is sold to schools as AI is a product built for a market rather than for a classroom, and it arrives carrying its own assumptions about assessment, about what a good answer looks like, about what a teacher is for. We think the more useful unit is smaller and more specific: purpose-built workflows, teacher twins and APIs, designed around how a particular institution actually teaches. The judgment work comes first and determines what gets built. We don't reverse that order. We work with schools and school groups, with ministries and education authorities building capacity at national scale, and with global organizations who commission programmes for the sector. HP commissioned the HP NOVA AI Fellowship. We have also delivered work with Amazon, Spotify, Oracle, and various school groups in the UAE, UK and EU. The urgency is real. Technology moves on a release cycle and institutions move on a policy cycle, and the distance between the two is where decisions get made by default, badly, and then have to be unmade.
