The firm of Alan Bernstein, AIA + ASLA, was founded to provide the most appropriate design for sustainable public and private residential and commercial sites which are energy efficient, take advantage of the Southern California landscape, and represent excellent craftsmanship all of which can enhance property values when resold. Mr. Bernstein is a licensed architect and landscape architect. To date, his over 20-year career has resulted in over 70 built residential, commercial, industrial, recreational and government projects. He currently maintains a professional staff of five associates. Mr. Bernstein holds a Master of Landscape Architecture degree from Harvard Graduate School of Design and a Bachelor of Architecture from the University of Oregon. He holds a 1998 certificate from AutoCAD University. In 2001, he was the President of the American Institute of Architects / San Fernando Valley Chapter. Mr. Bernsteins projects have won numerous awards including two American Institute of Architect Honor Awards one for a private residence and one for landscape design; two AIA Merit awards - one for a private residence and one for a commercial headquarters building and interiors; a Sunset Magazine Western Garden Award of Excellence; a Los Angeles City Beautiful Award for landscape design; and a National Interior Planting Award, among others.
