AI Strike Team is the nation's first strategic initiative dedicated to positioning a metropolitan region to lead in the emerging AI economy. Founded by Joanna Doven, a Carnegie Mellon University graduate and one of the most recognized voices in AI economic development, the Strike Team is rooted in Pittsburgh and built on the city's unmatched combination of world-class AI research, legacy industrial infrastructure, and a workforce that knows how to build things. Joanna's leadership has shaped some of Pittsburgh's most significant AI milestones, including launching AI Horizons as the Strike Team's flagship initiative, the creation of the AI Avenue Corridor, securing Pittsburgh's designation as NVIDIA's first AI Tech Community, and driving AI infrastructure investments on former steel sites. The Strike Team works at the intersection of academia, industry, government, and infrastructure to attract investment, expand AI capacity, forge strategic partnerships, and create the conditions for long-term economic competitiveness.
