Since 1975, AHC Inc. has developed more than 50 apartment communities with more than 8,200 affordable apartments in Virginia, Washington DC, and Maryland. AHC also provides extensive educational programs and social services onsite at our apartment communities to enhance residents’ lives – and the communities we serve. AHC’s nationally recognized Resident Services program initiated nearly 30 years ago, is helping build stronger futures for more than 3,000 children, youth, and adults who live in our affordable housing communities through education programs, social services, community partnerships, and access to local support. Our team has earned the industry-leader CORES certification, which recognizes AHC’s ongoing commitment to the highest standards for resident services. Volunteer opportunities include working with elementary students in our Afterschool or Summer Program and teens in our Tutoring and College and Career Readiness Programs. We are proud that 100% of the students in our education programs have graduated from high school, with the majority going to college - most the first in their families to achieve this life-changing milestone.
