Energy infrastructure for a climate-neutral future! As market and distribution area manager, AGGM plans the Austrian gas infrastructure in cooperation with the gas and electricity grid operators using an integrated approach that takes all energy sectors into account. This ensures that the gas infrastructure is available to meet demand at any time. The integration of renewable gases into the energy system is a major obejctive for AGGM. Feed-in concepts for renewable gases such as biomethane and hydrogen as well as the repurposing of existing gas pipelines for the regional and cross-border transport of hydrogen are therefore key planning principles. Gas grid management and security of supply AGGM is responsible for managing the gas flows in the Austrian gas grids. As an independent system operator, we ensure that the gas fed into the grids by the market participants reaches the grid customers reliably and that sufficient balancing energy is available around the clock to ensure the stability of the gas grid. In April 2022, AGGM was commissioned by the Austrian federal government to procure and manage the strategic gas reserve of 20 TWh.
