A.G. Gaston Boys & Girls Club Information

A.G. Gaston Boys & Girls Club has operated as a 501(c)(3) nonprofit organization since 1966. It is affiliated with Boys & Girls Clubs of America, a nationwide organization of nearly 4,000 Clubs with a similar core mission of serving some four million children and teens through Club membership and community outreach.  We offer an alternative safe place for Birmingham neighborhood children to stay out of trouble, remain in school and succeed in life. We serve more than 1,000 children each year, ranging in age from 6 to 18. These boys and girls pay just $8 per year to use our facilities and participate in a variety of enrichment programs, while the cost to the organization is approximately $1,000 per child per year. We focus on health and nutrition, character and leadership skills, education and career development, art, music, sports and recreation.  We are here to tutor, mentor and guide these “at risk” children and youth, so they can grow up to become productive, successful adults who support their communities.  We operate Clubs in two locations, one located near West End - the Dr. Kirkwood R. Balton Unit - and in Bessemer in the Southside Homes community.  The Clubs are open from 2:30 pm – 7:00 pm during the school year and all day, Monday through Friday, during Spring Break and throughout the summer   If you would like more information about our organization, or would like to make an online donation, please visit our website at www.aggbgc.org.
