Studio Nouveau, the boutique, was created by Andrea Record in the year 2000. We are located in a small Western mill town called Duncans Mills, on the Russian River in Sonoma County, California, minutes from the Sonoma Coast and Jenner. Duncans Mills is in the heart of wine country, giant Redwood country, and great beauty. The impetus to build Studio Nouveau, was her great love of Art Nouveau, an art movement that spanned from the 1880s to 1920s. In reaction to the mediocre and blase articles that were produced during the industrial revolution, artists in the Art Nouveau movement sought to find beauty in the ordinary. Every day objects for the person or home, were designed to bring one back to beauty, with sensuous, organic or nature-oriented, often asymmetrical, exotic and very finely crafted works. Andrea opened Studio Nouveau with a lamp and sculpture line of her own. She began traveling to Europe to bring back wonderful reproduction pieces, and eventually began collecting objects of beauty from other genres. In 2006, Andrea launched studionouveau.com. Using the multitude of fingers unique to the animal called the "internet", she hopes to bring these collections to not only the wonderful people who have visited her store and wish for more, but those who live elsewhere in the world.
