Aevena was founded in 2005 to bring wireless sensor networks out of the research labs and into the hands of users. While the sensor network systems that have been designed and built in the labs provide unprecedented sensing capabilities that cannot be performed with existing technologies, they were not designed for the everyday user. It is our goal of Aevena to create solutions with the power and flexibility of the research lab solutions while providing the ease-of-use and intuitive interfaces of commercial solutions. Our vision is to create intelligent sensing solutions that emphasize usuability and functionality, while still maintaining the benefits of low power consumption that underly wireless sensor networks. With energy-aware multi-processor sensor nodes, not only do our sensor nodes have the processing power to do sophisticated sensor processing, but the design and development of new algorithms and sensing schemes can be completed with much greater ease than alternative platforms.
