Created in 1973, the University of Aveiro quickly became one of the most dynamic and innovative universities in Portugal. Now a public foundation under private law, it continues to develop and implement its mission to provide undergraduate and postgraduate education, to generate research and promote cooperation with society. Attended by more than 16,000 students on undergraduate and postgraduate programmes, the UA has achieved a significant position amongst higher education institutions in Portugal, being one of the top universities regarding the quality of its infrastructures, the strength of its research and the excellence of its staff.

The University of Coimbra (UC) is a Portuguese public higher education institution with more than 700 years of experience in education, training and research. The first and the only Portuguese-speaking university until the early 20th century, UC has affirmed its position over the years with a unique mix of tradition, contemporaneity and innovation. The University of Coimbra has a unique tangible and intangible heritage, keystone in the scientific culture of Europe and the World, and is a UNESCO World Heritage Site since 2013. Nowadays, the University of Coimbra has eight faculties (Literature, Law, Medicine, Science and Technology, Pharmacy, Economics, Psychology and Educational Sciences, Sport Sciences and Physical Education) and more than 22 thousand students. To study at the University of Coimbra is to pursue the intellectual history of the country in the school that graduated some of the most distinguished personalities of national culture, science and politics. In 2020, UC was considered the best institution in Portugal and the only one in the world top 20 (17th place) in compliance with the Health and Wellbeing indicator, the third UN Sustainable Development Goal, according to the second edition ranking “The University Impact Rankings”, by Times Higher Education.

Founded in 1911, the University of Porto (U.Porto) is a benchmark institution for Higher Education and Scientific Research in Portugal and one of the top 200 European Universities according to the most relevant international ranking systems. The U.Porto combines high quality education focused on individual vocations and talents as well as market needs with the claim to being the greatest birthplace of science in Portugal. It is committed to converting into social assets the talent and innovation from its 15 schools and over 50 research centres.
