CeramTec UK is affiliated with the German ceramic giant CeramTec AG, and both companies’ roots are an integral part of the global history of technical ceramics. This history includes more than 115 years of manufacturing by our parent company as well as more than 40 years from the origin of our Colyton operations in Devon, UK. Few ceramic companies offer such a strong heritage.
Thus, solutions for the materials of the future are based on the two pillars of experience and R&D: comprehensive experience in the possibilities and areas of application on the one hand, and constant application-oriented research and development work on the other. The companies in the CeramTec Group supply products for almost every area of living, working, and technology, often unseen, but almost always indispensable. As a pioneer in the conception of new solutions for ever wider and more sophisticated areas of use for ceramics, CeramTec keeps setting new standards in the area of high-performance ceramics.
In 1996, the formal merger of Hoechst CeramTec and Dynamit Nobel’s Cerasiv Division created “CeramTec”. In 2004, CeramTec was acquired by Rockwood Specialties, playing a key part in this leading specialty chemicals/advanced materials company’s portfolio.
CeramTec UK has one manufacturing facility (Colyton, Devon) totaling 9,300 square meters of manufacturing space. Our UK operation is among the ten CeramTec facilities of our parent company located throughout Asia, Europe, and the United States. Consistent development of new materials, high levels of quality, concentration on customer-specific system solutions, and dialog-oriented application consultancy over the product’s entire lifecycle are the critical ingredients for our success.
