Advanced Liquid Logic (ALL), a wholly owned subsidiary of Illumina, Inc., is a leading provider of liquid handling solutions. ALL has developed a proprietary “digital microfluidics” technology based on electrowetting that precisely manipulates small droplets within a sealed disposable cartridge to perform complex laboratory protocols. This proven technology will enable Illumina to deliver the simplest and most efficient sample-to-answer next-generation sequencing (NGS) workflow. ALL’s versatile technology has been demonstrated across numerous applications, including nucleic acid isolation from various sample types and library generation for NGS. ALL was spun out of Duke University in 2004 as the result of co-founders Michael Pollack and Vamsee Pamula’s vision for microfluidics, which was inspired by the technology industry’s transition to digital.
