Some of the sharpest images in science and medicine start with a sensor nobody sees. Advafab is the Finnish semiconductor company behind them. We develop and manufacture radiation sensors and hybrid pixel detector modules for medical, industrial, security, and scientific imaging. It started in 2012, when we spun out of VTT Technical Research Centre of Finland to close a critical gap we saw in the industry, bringing fabrication, assembly, and testing together in one place. That same drive has kept us pushing ever since, always refining our materials, processes and methods to serve our customers better. Innovation remains at our core: we work closely with universities and academic institutions on scientific research and astronomy projects, staying at the edge of what pixel detector technology can do. That commitment shows up most in how we work with our customers. Many detector and imaging-system companies don't want to build their own semiconductor manufacturing capabilities, so we do it for them. At Advafab, we keep the entire production process under control by one accountable team. It's a complete route from product development to reliable production, which means shorter development cycles, a simpler supply chain, and better cost control. At Advafab, we are material-agnostic, working flexibly with gallium arsenide (GaAs), cadmium telluride (CdTe), cadmium zinc telluride (CdZnTe), and silicon sensor technologies, so we can serve a wide range of applications and tailor each solution to what a customer's performance and production specifically require.
