The ACCRV is a private non-profit United Way agency serving participants and their caregivers in Roanoke, Salem and surrounding areas for 25 years. From 1987 to 2009, ACCRV operated two centers-one in Roanoke and one in Salem. After completion of the new center in Salem in 2009, the two locations were consolidated. The new center is able to accommodate 70 participants and a staff of 20. New services to be provided include bathing/showering and beauty/barber services. Included in the building plans were future expansion options, as we foresee the need for an increase in participants in years to come. The ACCRV provides quality daytime care for dependent adults in a congregate setting. We are open Monday through Friday, from 7 a.m. to 6 p.m. and our goal is to KEEP FAMILIES TOGETHER by providing a safe, nurturing environment where participants can have socialization, medication management, cognitive and physical activities, and health monitoring while their caregivers are provided respite. We are licensed by the Virginia Department of Social Services and have contracts to provide services under Medicaid, and the Veterans Administrations. Participants are also provided scholarships by the LOA, Alzheimer's Association and local foundations. Click on the thumbnails below to see larger versions of the photos with captions.
