Acting and real life are two sides of the same coin, the difference is that an actor knows what to practice in order to repeat it in a believable and meaningful way; for everyone else it’s a case of constant improvisation. Wouldn’t it be great if you could master the art of improvisation so that every interaction was by design rather than chance? Well, I think you can and my experience with hundreds of clients has shown me that with awareness, practice and a bit of stimulation, usually by a coach, many things are possible. Three years at Drama School gave me the opportunity to develop my skills as an actor as well as the time for much introspection. Like many of my colleagues I was there to fulfil my creative passion as well as sort out some early 20s confusion - a bit like therapy that culminated in putting on a good show to really exorcise the previous months of angst. Post Drama School my calling was the theatre and this proved the most fulfilling of any acting engagements. I was fortunate enough to work in the UK, Europe, USA and Australia and with the National Theatre amongst others. Seven years of travel and many interesting roles, my desire to move into business led me to using my acting skill to help people accelerate their behavioural and emotional learning. This quickly led on to designing and running development programmes which have been at the heart of my work for the last 18 years. My Executive & Leadership coaching work draws on my acting experience at many levels; I bring creative insights and techniques to learning and development making it real, personal and meaningful.
