Accommodate aims to transform knowledge into meaning through novel learning experiences for a more sustainable future. Our flagship programme is a land-use simulation game, where participants are able to explore the linkages between social, cultural and environmental issues within the urban context. Since then, we have experimented with other modes of learning through learning journeys, our Citizen Reporter series, and organising. We are also in the midst of developing a brand-new biodiversity game. These are the core objectives that underpin what we do: • Democratise learning – Provide an alternative to the top-down education we have in Singapore • Intersectionality – Reframe what people learn by getting people to look at social, environment, cultural issues in an interconnected way • Civic-Engagement – Create a safe space to encourage citizens to discuss difficult questions themed around citizenship, belonging and participation and how we could relate to each other in society. • Hope for Action – Strive to turn individual awareness into collective action, encourage collaboration with existing ground-up groups or to initiate new initiatives.
