The IoT markets are developing rapidly and are globally seen as being as disruptive as the introduction of the internet and mobile phones. Market size estimates range from several 10’s of billions (Cisco, Gartner) to hundreds of billions of connected sensors (Samsung, Intel) with an expected value of over 10 Trillion US$. This market valuation can only be achieved if the sensors can transmit and receive data driving the resulting hype cycle around Big Data. IT is exactly in this sensor connectivity space where the Company has a unique offering which, unlike others, has been proven in the field. Typically sensors in the Machine to Machine (M2M) markets use cellular technologies these days based on SIM including a related carrier subscription. However IoT requires a different approach due to power and financial, read communication module, perspective. This need has led to the development of Low Power Wide Area (LPWA) technologies which run on low cost chipsets and require a much less dense network design when compared to GSM or LTE. The LPWA Network technology that Accellus has developed is based upon proven direct-sequence, spread-spectrum radio technology that was originally developed by British Aerospace Systems (BAE) in the mid-1990’s for use in military applications. BAE demilitarized the technology when GPRS and other mobile technologies became prevalent which were further developed and deployed by Quiktrak in several global projects. The Company acquired the IP rights in 2012 and has been completing and optimizing the solution since for commercial launch in what is known today as the IoT market.
