Correction to Above Video: The Freeman's are an Owosso, Michigan family who went to Owosso High School How Can We Stop Bullying, Abuse, and Violence? OUR MISSION STATEMENT SAYS IT ALL: Abuse Bites & A Time to Heal work to raise awareness and educate communities on abuse, bullying and violence prevention to bring equality and healing to all humanity through writing, speaking , teaching, and pet therapy . Our goal is to encourage others to be the CHANGE, so we can CHANGE HEARTS & SAVE LIVES . Abuse Bites & A Time To Heal came together in 2006 after Lisa Freeman saw the devastation and effects of bullying/abuse not only in her own family and pets, but in the entire USA & World. School bullying and bullying school was taking lives of innocent children and teens. So, she began doing extensive research and put the Abuse Bites educational program together to offer healing and hope , had her curriculum approved , and began speaking in schools , libraries, churches and work places all over Michigan. The staff are all volunteers and receive no payment for what they do. They do accept donations , sponsorship , and are seeking grant funding which will help them with gas, food, lodging and materials, so they can offer FREE WORKSHOPS . They are raising funds also with their 4rd Annual CHANGE Benefit-- Paws for Healing Walk-a-Thon to Stop Abuse, Bullying and Violence of People and Pets and also cure cancer. "As a child I was both victim (target) and the bully. All I wanted was love, all I found was abuse. I didn't fit anywhere, so I made poor choices, gave into peer pressure , and went along with the crowd." "Tired of the middle school drama and bullying, at 13, I ran away and lived out on the streets with an older boyfriend who swore to love and protect me. For two years we hitchhiked all over the USA. I was kidnapped, raped, beaten, forced into prostitution, and nearly killed more times than I can count. What was even worse is that my own boyfriend began abusing me too.
