Bola R Kamath, Ph.D. founded Heat Wise, Inc. in 1987. Dr. Kamath was Executive Vice-President of Engineering at ABC/Sunray where he developed low speed and high speed flame retention burners. He also patented the first domestic oil and gas combination burners, which became the benchmark burners for ABC/Sunray. Heat Wise was initially a research and development company, working with government agencies such as the New York State Energy Research and Development Authority (NYSERDA), Brookhaven National Laboratory and the Federal Department of Energy. The first production oil burners were introduced in 1989 and in 1996, Heat Wise began production of the Pioneer Oil Burners. The first partial pre-mix flame retention gas burners were introduced in 1992. Currently, Heat Wise is producing oil burners that fire between 0.5 GPH to 4.00 GPH and gas burners that fire between 50,000 BTU to 1.4 million BTU. High-low burners are also available. All Heat Wise Burners are designed to be efficient, reliable and easy to service. In the fall of 2004, Heat Wise will introduce the GB series of commercial gas burners. The first model, the GB-30, will fire up to 3 million BTU and will be available with a variety of gas train configurations, including on/off, High-Low, and fully modulating. Heat Wise will also introduce the LW-80, a high efficiency, low power consumption, residential oil burner.
