Associated Building Material Distributors, Inc. is an buying group association for independent building material and millwork wholesale distributors. The primary function of ABM is to negotiate monthly, quarterly and annual rebates for its membership. The collective buying power of ABM now exceeds $3.5 billion annually. Founded in 1975, ABM currently has 47 distributors member that service all 50 states and Canada. ABM has supplier agreements with approximately 75 industry-leading manufacturers and a number of service suppliers that include DMSi (ERP systems) to Federated Insurance. We also have agreements with a number of software providers that have focused their efforts exclusively on the requirements of wholesale distribution. Additionally, the association also conducts management seminars and provides financial analysis, comparative industry benchmarking metrics and other key industry indicators and trends to its members. A hallmark for ABM, and a longstanding tradition, is its annual convention, bringing together industry leaders, new and innovative products and nationally-recognized keynote speakers for members and allied suppliers. A pillar of this conference are the Best-Practice Roundtables, where non-competing distributors share the best and "not so best" practices between themselves. It is the goal of ABM to be not just the best supplier to its customers, but the best customer to its suppliers.
