Omaha Public Schools offers a variety of career choices and opportunities. Omaha Public Schools is the largest school district in the state of Nebraska serving over 54,000 students in grades K-12. Our district has 83 schools and 13 alternative programs across Douglas and Sarpy Counties. Programs include Omaha Virtual School, Special Education and English Learners. Our district is the third-largest employer in the state, with more than 7,000 full-time employees who are involved in the daily operation of our schools. Teachers, bus drivers, nutrition staff, paraprofessionals, operations and other staff are all an essential part of educating students. We are a state-approved district health department, co-located with a Federally Qualified Health Center. East Central District Health Department offers programs and services across a wide spectrum, including Women, Infants, and Children (WIC); Immunizations; Substance Abuse Prevention; Environmental Health; Community Health Improvement Planning; Emergency Preparedness; and more. Good Neighbor clinics, located in Columbus and Fremont, offer primary healthcare services including: Family Medicine; Behavioral Health; Dentistry. All services are offered on a sliding fee scale, and no one will be turned away due to their ability to pay. All insurances, including Medicare and Medicaid, are accepted. Good Neighbor also has Outreach and Enrollment counselors that can help you enroll in all state and federal programs that you are qualified for, including WIC, health insurance, ADC, etc. We have an on-site pharmacy at each location, and can offer free/low-cost transportation to and from your appointment! We have language lines so you can receive medical information in the language which you are most comfortable in.
