Abbot Point Operations Information

For more than 35 years Abbot Point Terminal has demonstrated its commitment to safety, efficiency, responsibility and partnership with the local community. APO has been contracted by North Queensland Export Terminal to manage the operations at the port of Abbot Point – Australia’s most northerly coal port – 25 kilometres north of Bowen, between Townsville to the north and Mackay to the south. With the systems, people and infrastructure to handle Abbot Point’s nameplate capacity of 50 million tonnes of coal annually, APO helps deliver Queensland coal to the world. In meeting the needs of Queensland coal producers, we prioritise the safety of everyone on site and protection of our local environment while creating jobs and supporting local community programs. Our local team of 180 employees and our supporting workforce of contractors are key to the success of APO and live and work by our values, such as trust, integrity and inclusion. By balancing the social, economic and environmental aspects of the business we are delivering for Queensland and Queenslanders.
