THE TRANSFORMING PASSION OF AN ARTISAN FAMILY
Gilan’s story began in the 18th century, in a village in Kosovo, with a grandmother who sewed tailor-made dresses for the Ottoman Pashas.
True to their artisan heritage, brothers Muharrem and Ferhan Geylan began their quest for luxury in 1980, in a tiny jewelry store, later moving to Istanbul where Gilan flourished as a renowned luxury jewelry house; creating exceptional pieces for strong, independent women of the 21st century.
By blending an inherited eye for design with the artistic influences of cultures from around the globe, and with the unique splendor of the city of Istanbul, a new world was born — elevating Gilan to its place among the finest designer/ makers of exquisite jewelry and art pieces in the world.
Creating jewelry that will be preserved for future generations is the enduring passion of two brothers who are involved in each and every phase of the making process; from the patented cutting of carefully selected gemstones, to their transformation into the captivating and magical designs synonymous with the name ‘Gilan’.
Jeeran launched in 2000 with a vision: To make the web relevant to the Arab world by empowering people and giving them the tools to generate their own local content.
Over the years Jeeran continued to evolve, and what started as a blogging service became one of the most established content portals in the region ‐ ranking among the top websites in the Arab world, generating over 25 million page views per month, and cultivating a community of more than 1.5 million members.
2010 marked the next phase in Jeeran’s evolution through the launch a new service that empowers Arab users to rate, review, discuss and discover places in their city.
Jeeran is built on the knowledge that more and more users base their purchase decisions on reviews and recommendations from real people ‐ friends and family. Turning to trusted sources is not new, but the social web has enabled people to refer to entire communities and networks.Jeeran is intended to facilitate these references, providing Arab users with the tools to connect to each other and to places in their city, basing their decisions on the reviews and recommendations of their local community.
We are now in more than seventeen Arabic cities distributed throughout the Arab region, including Jeddah, Riyadh, Dammam and Al Khobar in KSA, Dubai, Abu Dhabi and Sharjah in the UAE, as well as for each of Doha, Kuwait and Cairo.
