The hardest problems in science and engineering share two properties. The space of possible solutions is too large to search exhaustively, and a candidate can look right while being wrong. doubleAI builds AI for these problems: systems that search the space of ideas and verify what they find. Maxwell, our first product, is a Code Execution Model. It improves code while it runs, replacing bottlenecks with faster implementations fitted to the hardware and the data, and every improvement is formally proven equivalent to the original code. Double Agent, our agentic research system, applies the same approach beyond code. Its results include the first improvement in 38 years on a central problem in extremal graph theory, a chess record that had stood since 1968, a record-breaking quantum circuit for ECDSA, and state-of-the-art chip design on NVIDIA’s CVDP benchmark. Our researchers span computer science, mathematics, physics, and biology.
