Funded by Asterios Agkathidis in 2005, a3lab operates as a network based laboratory, specialized in architecture, interior, design research and digital manufacturing. With its main bases in Frankfurt, Shanghai and Thessaloniki, the laboratory has realized a big variety of projects all around Europe. > ABOUT ASTERIOS..... Born in Thessaloniki, Greece. Asterios Agkathidis studied architecture in Thessaloniki and the RWTH Aachen, completing his postgraduate studies in Advanced Architectural Design at the Staedelschule,Frankfurt in 2001. He became a partner in the architectural practice b&k+ in Cologneuntil 2004, then at VMX architects, Amsterdam until 2005. He later founded the architecture and research laboratory a3lab Frankfurt-Thessaloniki. Teaching and lecturing experiences include adbk Nuremberg, TU Darmstadt, the University of Thessaloniki, the FH Bielefeld, the Islamic University Malaysia the Columbia Univ. NY and the Städelschule. He was visiting assistant professor in the Lebanese American University. Today he teaches as senior lecturer at Raffles Design Institute Shanghai.
