A1Vacations.com, a member of the HomeAway, Inc., was founded in 1998 by Brian and Lisa Raub from their home on Smith Mountain Lake in Virginia. The Raubs were pioneers in the online vacation rental listing industry, using the Internet to match properties and renters, while supporting the unique personal nature of the business relationship between owners and renters. Today, A1Vacations represents over 5,600 vacation rental owners and managers. A1Vacations.com joined with three other vacation rental companies in 2000 to form Rentors.org. (www.rentors.org). The purpose of Rentors.org is to provide owners of vacation rental properties with tools, calendars and guest books that can be used on any Web site. In 2005, the Raubs sold A1Vacations to the HomeAway, Inc. an Austin-Texas based company joining it's sister vacation rental Web sites, www.CyberRentals.com, www.GreatRentals.com, www.Holiday-Rentals.co.uk, www.HolidayRentals.fr, www.FeWo-direkt.de, www.TripHomes.com and HomeAway.com to form one of the world's largest collections of vacation rental properties.
