Since 1978, CATS has been one of the most effective homeless service networks operating in the Bay Area. The complex problems behind homelessness leave many in desperate isolation, in a city teeming with life and resources. We're dedicated to helping this fragile population. Want to Help? We are a network of programs designed to work together to meet every stage of need - from first response to relapse prevention and all in between. Our continuum of care provides the tools to sobriety, treatment for substance abuse and a place to call home: A WOMAN'S PLACE - the only 24-hour supportive residential services in SF offering emergency shelter and long-term treatment programs to women and transgender women with special needs due to mental disabilities, sexual or domestic violence, drug and alcohol abuse, and HIV+/AIDS-related issues. A WOMAN'S PLACE DROP-IN CENTER - provides trauma-informed, gender-responsive care using low-threshold drop-in services targeted to the complex needs of multiply diagnosed homeless women, with close linkages to primary care, case management, residential substance abuse and HIV transitional housing and care. GOLDEN GATE FOR SENIORS - the only program of its kind in SF, offering a residential recovery facility assisting men and women 55 years of age and older achieve a more meaningful life free from drugs and alcohol. CORONADO HOTEL - housing and support services to 65 formerly homeless individuals in SRO units. MEDICAL RESPITE & SOBERING CENTER - a partnership with the SF Department of Public Health, providing respite beds and temporary housing with medically oriented support services for medically frail, homeless persons leaving SF General Hospital or other nearby clinics. EDDY STREET APARTMENTS - the final element in successful life transformations, Eddy Street Apartments offers permanent, supportive housing for individuals on a low or fixed income.
