A Second U Foundation Information

By offering a pathway to a career in wellness and fitness, and, certification by the National Federation of Personal Trainers, A Second U Foundation ("ASUF") offers a second chance for citizens returning from prison. Graduates of the ASUF program are trained and provided with ongoing support to start their own business, or become and remain gainfully employed in well-paying careers. The cycle of recidivism is one that affects generations. When a person is released from prison and unable to lift themselves above the poverty line, they are more likely to reoffend. This forms a vicious cycle. Research shows that children of incarcerated parents are up to 6 times more likely to become justice involved themselves. By offering a pathway to earning a strong income, ASUF helps create generational wealth for returning citizens. In doing so, ASUF helps break the cycle of generational involvement with the justice system.
