55 Central Information

55 Central is a specialist organisation that works to break the cycle of homelessness by providing person centred, evidence based services to people who are homeless or at risk of homelessness. Our values: integrity, equality, inclusion, commitment and respect are the cornerstone of all the work we do. 55 Central's core services are funded through the Department of Child Protection and Family Support, the Mental Health Commission and the Drug and Alcohol Office. But it is only through the goodwill of our corporate and community supporters that we can continue to provide services to the State's most disadvantaged groups. Each dollar received is carefully spent - our administration costs are purposely kept low at 12%. We aim to spend our donations where they are needed most. A contribution of $100.00 for instance, will provide a night's emergency accommodation for a family. $500 will enable us to support the salary costs of a part-time psychiatric nurse, who can assist homeless people that are in crisis, towards receiving appropriate medical and psychological care. Donations and/or Corporate contributions over $1,000 and up to $100,000 will provide support towards capital costs, to expand our Crisis Accommodation service and support more people who are homeless. All donations over $2.00 are tax deductible.
