3rd Ethos Information

This series explores the concept of daybreak from various perspectives simultaneously. At once nostalgic and lost in time, each painting evokes both the solitude and the ubiquity of the dawn as it contrasts the architectural structure of memory with the hazy ambience of dreams. Beyond its philosophical significance as a renewal or commencement, this series envisions the dawn as a static, self contained environment, disconnected from time and saturated with limitless possibilities. MIKA SAITO is a graphic designer and visual artist who lives and works in New York City. She was born in Unzen Nagasaki Pref., Japan and retains the open natural serenity of that rustic coastal city. As a graphic designer, she has worked for such companies as Shiseido, Tatcha and LOréal among others. This series represents Mikas first exploration of graphic visual communication outside of the brand context. The use of color, shape and layout is intended to be of equal significance as the content and the feeling imparted to the viewer is of equal significance as the message. She has a great love of printmaking, typography, animation and illustration. Her years of professional experience as a graphic designer have provided her with a passion for the use of art as communication and communal exploration of ideas. 3RD ETHOS is a creative network of different interests and initiatives rolled into one experience dedicated to art, fashion, music, design and everything in between.
