We offer a fond final salute to Haynes Dugan of Shreveport, Louisiana, for his many years of dedication to preserving the history of the Spearhead Division. He died peacefully while under care at age 93, and how he will be missed by family, friends, and 3rd Armored veterans. Dugan served with the 3AD from 1941 to 1945, throughout its journey from Camp Beauregard, Louisiana, to the banks of Germany's Elbe River, deep within the Third Reich. Beginning in 1948, he served as the 3rd Armored Division Association's historian for 58 years, and in 2003 he became the Honorary Officer in Charge of our newly formed 3AD.com website, where many of his writings and other contributions can be found today. In the early 1980's, together with Andrew Barr, Haynes was instrumental in laying the groundwork for the 3AD Association Archives at the University of Illinois, as well as much of the inspiration for the creation of 3AD.com in 2003.
