3D EMS Information

3D EMS is an engineering company based at the Innovation Centre, University of Bath (UK) specialised in Metal Additive Manufacturing. Additive Manufacturing (AM) a revolutionary technology applicable in a wide range of industries that allows overcoming the limits imposed by conventional production techniques. It is an ingenious process by which digital 3D design data is used to build up a component in layers, most commonly known as “3D printing”. Unlike conventional milling procedure working from a solid block, Additive Manufacturing “prints” components layer by layer using metals in powder. A powerful laser bean is used to fuse a thin layer of metal powder. Layer after layer new powder will be fused and therefore bonded to the previous layer until the final object will be completely “printed”.
