Organizations are coordination systems. Every consequential business decision, whether hiring a leader, adopting AI, restructuring teams, acquiring a company, or pursuing growth, changes that coordination system. Success depends on whether the current system can successfully become the next one. 2ndSys is an organizational coordination research company. Our work seeks to understand why organizations succeed or fail by studying the structural characteristics of coordination systems. That research forms the foundation of the Recursive Theory of Organizational Coordination and the Align platform. Align applies this research to help leaders evaluate consequential business decisions before they are made. Rather than treating hiring, growth, AI, or transformation as separate challenges, we evaluate whether an organization's coordination system possesses the capability to execute the future it intends to create. Our ambition is to make organizational coordination observable, measurable, and increasingly predictive.
