Founded by chef Sarah Churchill in Gloucestershire in 2011, The Artisan Kitchen creates exceptional handmade jams, marmalades and preserves, shaped by a professional chef’s understanding of flavour. Sarah’s experience at The Square and Daylesford Organic informs every recipe. Carefully sourced fruit, precise cooking and an instinct for balance come together in preserves that give their ingredients room to shine. Each batch is made by hand in small copper pans, using traditional methods and close attention to texture, aroma and taste. What began with fruit from a local Mirabelle plum tree has grown into one of the UK’s most awarded artisan preserves producers, with more than 200 Great Taste Awards, including 52 three-star awards and multiple Golden Forks. At the heart of the collection is The Artisan Kitchen Blaisdon Red Plum Jam™, which Sarah has made since 2013 using a heritage plum variety rooted in Gloucestershire. Her work with the fruit extends beyond the preserving pan into an ongoing journal of local history, growers’ stories and archival research. The wider collection brings together seasonal jams, distinctive marmalades and imaginative flavour combinations. From the fragrant bitterness of citrus to the depth of orchard fruit, every preserve reflects Sarah’s commitment to flavour, thoughtful ingredients and the pleasure of good food. Featured on James Martin’s Saturday Morning, The Artisan Kitchen remains an independent, founder-led business, with Sarah personally developing the recipes and making the preserves.
