SynAging Provides Drug Testing for Proteopathic Neurodegenerative Diseases! Neurodegenerative diseases are among the most common threats to human health and difficult to treat. Recently, the understanding of biochemical causes have improved. SynAging builds on and expands the latest insights of protein-aggregate-caused disease induction and provides drug developers with fast and highly reliable models. SynAging is a contract research organization (CRO) and supports drug development programs with clients as fee for service, or in risk-sharing strategic collaborations. Clients are pharma and biotech companies, e.g. Actelion, Servier, ProBioDrug, Domain Therapeutics, Galapagos, Lundbeck, Proximagen, Roche and many others that prefer not to be named. SynAging focuses on soluble protein oligomers that are involved in the earliest stages of age-related neurodegenerative diseases and used at SynAging to induce disease models in vitro and in vivo. SynAging has proprietary protein preparations inducing neurological disease symptoms with outstanding reproducibility: - amyloid beta peptide oligomer preparations, which are mostly soluble tetramers, and induce neurodegeneration in primary rodent neurons, and iPS cell derived human neurons as well as cognitive decline, brain inflammation, synaptic degeneration and further aspects of Alzheimer's disease in mice and rats. - mouse and human alpha synuclein preparations, e.g. soluble oligomers and fibrils induce neurodegeneration in primary rodent neurons, and iPS cell derived human neurons; and a Parkinson's disease model in mice, showing movement disorders, α-synuclein pathology and cognitive deficits. - human 2N4R tau oligomers, mostly soluble trimers, inducing neurodegeneration in primary rodent neurons, and iPS cell derived human neurons. Tau in vitro models are currently exclusively partnered, and in vivo models will be developed in 2016.
