We honor America’s fallen military service members who have made the ultimate sacrifice since 9/11 by humbly serving the families they left behind. Champion their children’s future success by creating opportunities for joy, friendship, and communal healing, by connecting these families to one another. We host national gatherings of children who have all lost a parent while serving in the military since 9/11. These national gatherings provide the children and their surviving parent with introductions to other children and adults who just like them have suffered the loss of a parent or a spouse while serving in the military since 9/11. The retreat is designed to bring these family members together, include them in events and programs that honors their sacrifice and service, builds their self-confidence, introduces them to other families who are experiencing the same difficulties and obstacles, and bring them together for communal healing and help. During our events each family member also experiences a tremendous demonstration of public support during public gatherings at airports when they depart their home town, when they arrive in the host city, Dallas, and during a “Walk of Gratitude”, a public event where thousands of citizens participate to show these families how much their sacrifice is appreciated and that they and their fallen hero are not forgotten. Snowball Express has one paid staff member. All other staff volunteer their time year round. During the annual event thousands of volunteers serve as airport greeters, event hosts, security, etc.. American Airlines flight crews also donate their vacation time to fly families in for the annual Snowball Express event.
