I founded Sharp Executive Associates, Inc. in 2002 as part of a change in direction in my career, after serving more than 25 years in both public accounting and corporate management. While serving as Chief Financial Officer, I became acutely aware of the shortage of qualified and experienced professionals who could step into my organization and provide a high quality product without me spending an equivalent amount of time in training, directing and managing the effort that I was trying to off-load. I needed the ability to bring on Project Professionals for limited engagements, without incurring a long-term overhead commitment. In my conversations with executives of other companies, I found that my needs were not unique, and neither were the time constraints and pressures. I determined that my preferred career path was to be that qualified executive who others could call upon. In hindsight, the timing was fortuitous. Founding Sharp Executive Associates corresponded very closely with the signing of the Sarbanes-Oxley Act of 2002, that landmark legislation driven by several major corporate failures. As our clients began addressing their compliance needs, we began offering SOX compliance services to assist them as they took on the daunting compliance effort. We have quickly established ourselves as the 'go to' project professionals for clients located in the Western United States, several of whom have operations throughout the world. In aggregate, our professionals have worked with over 24 companies in 12 industries, and have traveled to 12 countries on 5 continents to provide our clients with the skilled compliance services they need. Our clients find additional value in being able to call upon professionals who have extensive International experience. Service to our growing client base has required us to take on additional professionals as either employees or contract consultants.
