In 2002 Organic Dairy Farmers Australia (ODFA) was founded by a group of innovative dairy farmers who wanted to do things more ethically and sustainably. ODFA is a co-operative (co-op) that's still proudly 100% owned by the farmers who produce our remarkable organic milk. During 17 years of operation, we've grown substantially and now operate our own milk processing facility in North Geelong, supplying organic milk and milk products to companies in Australia and overseas. We also manufacture a range of organic butters and cheeses. Our farms and manufacturing facilities are certified organic — by The National Association for Sustainable Agriculture, Australia (NASAA) & Australian Certified Organic (ACO) — producing quality dairy products with environmentally sustainable and socially responsible practices. Our holistic, organic farming ethos includes soil regeneration, water conservation and animal welfare — prioritising the health and well-being of our cows. Organic certification means: Promoting biodiversity by growing a variety of crops Preventing soil erosion & improving soil quality Conserving energy Protecting wildlife, stream banks & watersheds Complying with a strict set of standards, avoiding use of synthetic or artificially produced pesticides, herbicides, fertilisers & genetically modified transgenic organisms (GMOs). Demand for organic dairy products is growing & ODFA is interested in hearing from farmers considering the transition to organic. At ODFA our farmers feel welcome & supported, with our team mentoring new co-op members through the change process. General: We expect postings to be workplace appropriate.
