Munio means I defend in Latin and this is the principal idea behind Munio: a commitment to preserving the planet’s endangered rainforests through beautiful and high quality home accessories and jewelry. Munio designs, manufactures and markets high quality home accessories and jewelry. All of our wooden products are FSC®-certified. (see note under certifications) If we use any other materials we take great strides to find the most environmentally friendly materials to use. Munio was founded in August 2008 in Denmark by Morten C. Nielsen and Peter Rantzau. Munio is a Danish company residing in Copenhagen. We did not start of by creating designs and producing jewelry and living products. We started off by spending more than 3 years analyzing, learning and creating a platform for a new 21st century company, with forests of the world as the starting point. Why? Because it’s the right thing to do. Environmentalism starts at home with the products we buy and utilities we use and the product we as companies supply to consumers. We are all in this together and here is why: We consume 1.5 times annually resources from our planet more than the plant can regenerate itself. We are reaching 7 billion people on the planet and will reach 10 by by 2050 There will be more than 2 billion more people in the middle classes in the world by 2025 and while this is great news, it puts a lot of additional strain on the natural resources of our planet We have the highest concentration of CO2 in the atmosphere in 400 million years, which can result in disastrous consequences for especially people and species on planet Earth. It is unacceptable to consume and use products, which does not have a minimum of respect for the work conditions, salaries, safety and rights of employees.
