Mitargos is a therapeutics company built on a simple truth: health depends on reliable energy. Modern medicine is excellent at managing symptoms, but it often assumes energy availability is guaranteed. When usable energy becomes fragile, the body protects short-term function while underfunding repair, cleanup, and recovery. Over time, that imbalance shows up as persistent inflammation, slower recovery, and compounding decline. We treat energy not as a lifestyle concept, but as a therapeutic lever: restore usable energy and you restore the conditions where function can recover. Our initial focus is brain injury because it is acute, measurable, and unforgiving. Energy demand spikes, recovery trajectories are visible, and the biology overlaps with processes seen in aging and neurodegeneration—making it the clearest setting to validate energy restoration as a mechanism. Mitargos follows a human-first development model. We generate early proof-of-principle data in people using a functional food platform, then translate what works into pharmaceutical development with less guesswork than the traditional path. Functional food is not the endpoint—it’s a tool to learn faster and de-risk translation. We are currently conducting human studies in collaboration with UC San Diego’s Stein Institute for Research on Aging, supported by an XPRIZE Healthspan award, generating quantitative evidence on energy restoration and functional outcomes. Thesis: the biggest opportunity in medicine isn’t earlier symptom control—it’s restoring the energy deficit that turns normal stress into compounding decline.
