Founded in 1999, Lampe, Conway & Co, LLC invests in distressed lower middle market companies in North America. Generating alpha in this uncrowded specialized strategy requires unique access to a part of the market not well covered by Wall Street. Over the past 30 years, the Principals have built a proprietary network of industry contacts which helps source unique, uncorrelated investment opportunities. The Principals have historically been among the largest investors in the Firm’s funds. Lower middle market companies typically have much less financial flexibility than larger companies. These smaller companies default more often and have fewer, more expensive options when financial trouble strikes. The Firm invests in non-control stakes and targets situations where it can influence the outcome, sometimes by employing its distinctive brand of 'constructive activism'. The Firm’s Principals each have over 30 years of investment experience, 20 years in the distressed investment market. The Team is comprised of 6 professionals with an average firm tenure of 13 years. The Team has deep and complimentary experience in out-of-court bankruptcies, debt restructurings, debtor-in-possession and exit financing, capital structure arbitrage and trading.
