Craft Mandi Information

"We believe that individual Indian artisans can have a sustainable income and livelihood through the for-profit producer company CraftMandi". Craftmandi’s mission is to realize sustainable income and livelihood to the artisans involved in the CraftMandi Producer Company. Currently, there are 6,000 female artisans that are shareholder of the company. An annual doubling of this number is the target for the next few years. Next to this, CraftMandi strives to preserve the rich Indian heritage of beautiful crafts that have been in rural families for many generations. Mandi is the Hindi word for market. CraftMandi is established with the purpose of becoming a market place for the crafts. This would benefit both the female artisans and the preservation of crafts. CraftMandi – a for-profit company – will e.g. create demand through different sales channels to the target group through e-commerce, exhibitions and retail outlets. Founders Maya Meena and Manish Kumar Meena run CraftMandi with their team from its office in Jaipur, Rajasthan. The artisans that are connected come from all over the state of Rajasthan. Craftmandi is incubated at STIDE, Central University of Rajasthan, a University Established Under India Government Act.
