CMI Software, Inc. (CMI) is located in southeastern Arizona at the foot of beautiful 10,720 foot Mt. Graham, home of the world's most powerful telescope. CMI is a local, privately held corporation. CMI Fixed Assets is stand-alone fixed assets accounting software for Windows, originally developed in 1982 for CPM and DOS. CMI was organized in 1982 with the express purpose of developing fixed assets accounting software for use in public accounting. The first fixed assets system released was known as CFAAS - Comprehensive Fixed Assets Accounting System. As CFAAS matured it was adapted to more fully meet the needs of industry and government as well as accountants in public practice. In the late 1980's CFAAS was renamed THE SYSTEM - Comprehensive Fixed Assets Accounting and is commonly called THE SYSTEM. Development and growth has continued with many of the ideas for enhancements coming from dedicated users. The first Windows version of THE SYSTEM was released in the spring of 1996. The software is now known as CMI Fixed Assets released fall of 2006 with a new user interface. CMI Fixed Assets has a user base that extends from Alaska to Florida and includes CPA's and other accountants in public practice, in banking, manufacturing, health care, service industries, retailing, government and a variety of other fields.
