Thebe ya Bophelo Healthcare Administrators (Pty) Ltd (TYB), is the medical aid administration subsidiary of Thebe Investments Ltd, one of the oldest black owned groups in South Africa. Originally an investment holding company, Thebe Investment Corporation (Thebe) was formed in 1992 by the Batho Batho Trust, a community based trust founded by veterans of the anti-apartheid struggle. The first trustees of the Batho Batho Trust included Nelson Mandela, Walter Sisulu and Beyers Naude. Investments include financial services, entertainment & leisure, IT, property, education and healthcare. Thebe Ya Bophelo Healthcare Administrators (TYB) is the healthcare administration arm of Thebe. As the foremost Black-owned and managed healthcare administrator in South Africa (TYB is a level 1 contributor), TYB has as it’s focus the provision of affordable, quality healthcare.
