Mountains Restoration Trust Information

Mountains Restoration Trust (MRT) is a non-governmental, non-profit organization that is dedicated to protecting the natural and cultural resources of the Santa Monica Mountains through habitat  restoration, education, land acquisition, and conservation easements. We are guided by a board of directors, operated by a professional staff, and supported by thousands of donors, community members, and volunteers.  Our work is mainly funded by public conservation funding and partially by generous private donations. We work in cooperation with the many government agencies and non-governmental organizations in the Santa Monica Mountains to create a more sustainable approach to maintaining the mountains for people to enjoy for many generations to come. Through our different programs, we help people understand that the health of the environment directly impacts the health of its inhabitants. Stewardship of our natural resources means to be in harmony, not in competition with the natural resources of the land. What we do today needs to take into consideration the generations to come.
