Founded in 1929 by the Sisters of Mercy, Carlow University offers career paths in Health and Wellness, Education, and Arts, Discovery, and Expression, creating ethical leaders for a more just and merciful world. Carlow is a private, co-educational Catholic university located in the heart of Pittsburgh’s “Eds, Meds, and Tech” district. Our graduates, curriculum, and partnerships reflect the principles of our founding Sisters of Mercy to create a more just and merciful world through a strong commitment to social justice, ethical, forward-thinking, responsible leadership, and service to the community that has a meaningful impact on all we serve. Undergraduate, graduate, and certificate degree options are offered in Health and Wellness , Education, and Arts, Discovery, and Expression, in fields ranging from nursing, the sciences, and perfusion technology to counseling, education, and forensic accounting. Carlow’s small class sizes and world-renowned staff offer students the individual attention they need to become ethical leaders of the future. Our graduates are in high demand due to their entrepreneurial spirit, creative mindset, ability to manage change, and professional expertise. At Carlow, we have 17 varsity athletic teams, known as the Celtics, which reflects our university’s Irish heritage and roots. While we’re devoted to our student-athletes, we know some of our most important teams are found in the faculty, who work together to ensure our student-athletes’ success both in the classroom and on the field.
